Novell, Linux & Open Source

 

Finding good Novell or Linux support is not an easy task as comparatively few IT support companies, focusing on the medium-sized market, have experience or training (including industry certifications) on these technologies.  This is not the case with BIT Solutions.  Having worked in larger, corporate environments where these products are more widely used, we have enterprise experience that enables us to design and implement these systems.

 

We believe in “best of breed” and, for many medium-sized companies, Microsoft is a good fit at a reasonable price. However, we would like to give our customers the opportunity to explore the alternative systems (yes, there are such things!) so that they can make a fully informed decision.  The benefits of Novell and Linux include:

 

• Generally, these solutions are either significantly cheaper to use or even free.
• Simpler licensing agreements.
• Less vendor lock-in as there are many different flavours of Linux.
• Many people regard these technologies to be more secure and stable.  They are also less vulnerable to viruses and spyware.

 

Like everything there are both pros and cons to using Open Source software however you should understand that you have a choice rather than always being given a Microsoft based solution.  If your interested to find out more please do contact us.
